DMCA / Copyright Policy

Thread respects the intellectual property rights of others and expects its users to do the same. We will respond to clear notices of alleged copyright infringement that comply with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and applicable law.

2. Filing a DMCA Takedown Notice
If you believe that your copyrighted work has been copied in a way that constitutes copyright infringement and is accessible on the Service, you may send a written notification to our DMCA agent. Your notice must include:
- Identification of the copyrighted work that you claim has been infringed. If multiple works are involved, provide a representative list.
- Identification of the infringing material that you claim is infringing, including the URL or description of where it is located on the Service, and information sufficient to allow us to locate the material.
- Your contact information, including your full name, address, telephone number, and email address.
- A statement that you have a good faith belief that the use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notification is accurate and that you are authorized to act on behalf of the owner of the exclusive right that is allegedly infringed.
- Your physical or electronic signature.

3. Counter-Notification
If you believe that your content was removed or disabled as a result of a mistake or misidentification, you may file a counter-notification. Your counter-notification must include:
- Identification of the material that has been removed or to which access has been disabled, including the URL where it previously appeared.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good faith belief that the material was removed or disabled as a result of mistake or misidentification.
- Your name, address, telephone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the Federal District Court for the judicial district in which your address is located (or, if outside the US, any judicial district in which Thread may be found), and that you will accept service of process from the person who provided the original DMCA notice.
- Your physical or electronic signature.

4. Repeat Infringer Policy
In accordance with the DMCA, Thread has a policy of terminating, in appropriate circumstances, the accounts of users who are repeat infringers of copyright. A "repeat infringer" is a user who has had content removed from the Service pursuant to two or more valid DMCA takedown notices.
We track DMCA notices and counter-notifications and will take appropriate action against accounts that repeatedly infringe copyright.
5. German Copyright Notice (Urheberrecht)
As a service operated from Germany, we also comply with the German Copyright Act (Urheberrechtsgesetz, UrhG) and the NetzDG. Content that infringes German copyright law will also be removed upon notification.

6. Misrepresentations
Under Section 512(f) of the DMCA and § 101 of the German Copyright Act, any person who knowingly materially misrepresents that material is infringing or that material was removed or disabled by mistake may be subject to liability for damages, including costs and attorney's fees.
