Acceptable Use Policy

This Acceptable Use Policy describes what is and is not permitted when using Thread. It supplements our Terms of Service. By using the Service, you agree to comply with this policy.

1. Your Responsibilities

You are responsible for the content you create, upload, and share through Thread. You agree to:

  • Comply with all applicable laws and regulations
  • Respect the intellectual property rights of others
  • Use the Service only for its intended purpose (writing, worldbuilding, creative projects)
  • Maintain the security of your account
  • Be considerate of other users if collaboration features are used

2. Prohibited Content

You may not use Thread to create, store, upload, or share content that:

  • Is illegal: Content that violates any applicable law, including laws regarding child exploitation, terrorism, or drug trafficking.
  • Involves child exploitation: Any content depicting or promoting the sexual exploitation of minors. We have zero tolerance for such content and will report it to law enforcement.
  • Infringes intellectual property: Content that violates copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, or other intellectual property rights of others.
  • Contains malware: Viruses, worms, trojans, ransomware, or any code designed to harm, disrupt, or gain unauthorized access to systems.
  • Is harassing or threatening: Content that harasses, bullies, threatens, intimidates, or promotes violence against any person or group.
  • Promotes hate speech: Content that promotes discrimination, hatred, or violence based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or other protected characteristics.
  • Is deceptive: Phishing, fraud, false impersonation, or content designed to deceive or mislead for harmful purposes.
  • Discloses private information: Sharing others' personal information (doxxing) without consent, including addresses, phone numbers, social security numbers, or financial information.
  • Is spam: Unsolicited bulk content, advertising, or promotional material not related to creative writing or worldbuilding.

3. Prohibited Activities

You may not use the Service to:

  • Attempt unauthorized access: Try to gain access to another user's account, content, or any part of the Service you are not authorized to access.
  • Interfere with the Service: Disrupt, overload, or impair the Service's infrastructure, including servers, networks, or APIs.
  • Scrape or crawl: Use automated tools (bots, scrapers, spiders) to access or extract data from the Service without authorization.
  • Reverse engineer: Attempt to decompile, disassemble, or reverse engineer any part of the Service.
  • Bypass limitations: Circumvent or attempt to circumvent usage limits, access controls, or subscription restrictions.
  • Resell or sublicense: Resell, sublicense, or redistribute access to the Service without written permission.
  • Misuse AI features: Use AI features to generate illegal, harmful, or prohibited content.

4. AI Content Guidelines

When using Thread's AI-powered features, you agree to:

  • Use AI features responsibly and ethically
  • Review and verify all AI-generated content before using or publishing it
  • Not use AI features to generate content that would violate this Acceptable Use Policy
  • Not represent AI-generated content as entirely human-created in contexts where disclosure is legally required
  • Not use AI features to impersonate real individuals

5. Enforcement

We take violations of this policy seriously. Depending on the severity and nature of the violation, we may:

  • Issue a warning: For first-time or minor violations, we will typically send a warning.
  • Remove content: We may remove content that violates this policy.
  • Restrict features: We may limit or suspend access to certain features, including AI features.
  • Suspend or terminate accounts: For serious or repeated violations, we may suspend or permanently terminate your account.
  • Report to authorities: For content involving child exploitation, terrorism, or serious criminal activity, we will report to appropriate law enforcement.

6. Reporting Violations

If you encounter content on Thread that violates this policy, please report it to us:

We will review all reports and take appropriate action, typically within 5 business days.

7. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or prominent notice in the Service. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
